Invest in technologies and software.

The world of marketing is forever evolving, and innovative technologies are being brought into the mix. For example, Tik Tok was only launched in 2016 and now has over 55 million usersTo keep up with the competition, you need to investigate the emerging software and technologies to see which can benefit your business and how. You never know…you could find a new platform that doubles your potential customers 

Get training!

Not sure how to do something but don’t want to hire someone else? Get training! There are so many online courses on marketing resources, from video editing to Mailchimp and Google Analytics. So, get learning, you never know what new skills you will gain. 

Spend your money wisely.

Keep on top of your budgeting every time you run a new campaign or activity, even if it’s a £10 social media ad. This way, you never spend more than you have. It’s also a good idea to have a little spare in case of opportunities or emergencies. 

Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

When creating your website, it’s ideal to pretend to be the customer. You need to think, how easy is the website to navigate? What information would I want to know first? Where should I go once I am on the homepage? You need to review the user’s experienceOne way to do this is through tracking heatmaps of user behaviour. Heatmaps show where the users are clicking. Here at bacon, we use a tool called Hotjar. 

Talk to the complainers.

Nobody is perfect, and occasionally businesses make mistakes. When customers complain, on social media or face to face, respond. Let them know that you are listening and that you care. They will appreciate the efforts you put into solving their problem

Look into the past when planning for the future.

When it comes to running campaigns, you should always use the data available to make decisions. Don’t rush straight into the creating process, instead look at past campaigns to see what performed well and what didn’t, to understand the best practice for your business.
